We work with companies in the real economy where the product is tangible, the service is hands-on, and the sales cycle requires trust.
Josh Sprague is a serial entrepreneur who has spent 14+ years building businesses from scratch without outside funding, venture capital, or shortcuts. He founded Orange Mud, a hydration gear company, after tearing apart a gun holster, a tie-down strap, and a waist pack in his California garage to solve a problem he faced during endurance races. That small prototype became a nationally recognized brand in the endurance sports world.
He went on to launch Seven Clay, a premium custom apparel company specializing in embroidery, screen printing, and laser etching, and later Anvil & Acre, a fractional CMO firm that brings real-world operational marketing expertise to businesses that make and serve tangible products.
With 500+ endurance races under his belt, Josh approaches business the same way he tackles a 100-mile ultramarathon: with the right plan, the right tools, relentless preparation, and the understanding that the hardest miles are the ones nobody sees.
"Innovation comes from frustration. When something doesn't work, you build something better."
— Josh's Philosophy
Anvil & Acre is the natural extension of Josh’s philosophy. After years of building his own growth systems, optimizing CRM workflows, running ad campaigns, and learning what drives measurable results, Josh created a firm to help manufacturing and service businesses close the gap between leads and revenue.
"We don't hand you a PDF and walk away. We build systems your team can own and run with measurable impact on your bottom line."
We’re boutique by design every client gets senior-level attention, no junior associates, no disappearing strategists. But boutique doesn’t mean small in capability.
We scale the team to fit your engagement — so you get exactly the expertise you need, without paying for what you don’t.
Every engagement starts with a deep assessment. We don't sell services you don't need.
Everything we create is designed for your team to own and run. We build capability, not dependency
Vanity metrics are noise. We track leads, conversions, cost per acquisition, and revenue impact.
No jargon-heavy reports. Straightforward updates on what's working, what's not, and what we're doing about it.
